Reduce hidden energy losses with NSW LEIP funding

In many facilities, energy losses don’t always come from the compressor, but also from inefficient air treatment and gas systems.

The NSW Low Emissions Industry Program (LEIP) helps fund upgrades to address these inefficiencies.

Key details

  • Status: Open
  • Funding available: $500,000 - $10M per project
  • Application deadline: 9 June 2026, 11:00 pm

Where this applies

NSW mining and manufacturing facilities that:

  • Reported emissions under the NGER Scheme
  • Are not a safeguard facility

Most relevant for sites with:

  • Energy-intensive air treatment (e.g. dryers)
  • High purge losses or inefficient air use
  • Reliance on delivered nitrogen or oxygen
  • Limited visibility over energy use across air and gas systems

The hidden side of efficiency

Air treatment and gas systems are often overlooked energy users.

Inefficient dryers, over-purging and poor control increase demand without being obvious, making them a strong opportunity for savings.

Eligible project types

  • Facility retrofits and equipment upgrades
  • Industrial process improvements
  • Waste heat recovery
  • Electrification and fuel switching

Requirements

Projects must:

  • Reduce ≥1,000 tCO₂-e/year
  • Be operational by 30 June 2030
  • Include at least 50% co-investment

Maintain production and safety

How our solutions align with LEIP

Supports LEIP category: Waste heat recovery

  • Capture and reuse heat from compressed air systems
  • Reduce overall site energy demand across the facility

Supports LEIP category: Process improvements / electrification

  • Reduces reliance on delivered gas
  • Supports efficient onsite production processes

Supports LEIP category: Facility retrofits

  • Identifies inefficiencies across the compressed air and gas systems
  • Improve system control and performance

Supports LEIP category: Facility retrofits

  • Reduce wasted energy across your entire air system
  • VSD dryers deliver up to 30% energy savings

Where this delivers the most value

  • Energy-intensive air drying
  • High purge loss systems
  • Delivered gas dependency

A more complete approach

Focusing only on compressors can overlook major energy users.

Improving air treatment and gas systems reduces hidden losses and improves overall efficiency.

How we can support your LEIP project

  • Assess air treatment and gas system performance
  • Identify hidden losses
  • Recommend targeted upgrades
  • Estimate energy and emissions savings

Plan before applications close

Applications close on 9 June 2026. Early planning helps maximise efficiency gains and funding outcomes.
